This is a 1966 Fender Jazz bass in Candy Apple Red. Clearly, it has been played a ton, and for good reason; it has a great neck and it sounds incredible! They usually look like this for a reason - because they're good ones.
All original with the exception of:
2 pots that have been changed:
Front pickup Volume pot 66
Back pickup Volume pot 86
Tone pot 76
Screws on the back of G & D string tuner posts are not original, and the G string is missing a washer on the back of the tuner post.
A small piece of binding was missing when I received the bass and has been professionally repaired. The color was matched meticulously as to keep the integrity of its appearance.
It looks as if the back of the neck and the back of the headstock was painted at some point years ago but all that remains are some various small patches here and there. Speculation at this point..
September 66 Neck Stamp
Weight is 9.4 lbs on my home scale.
Frets are on the lower side but still have life left.
Includes a 60s Fender case. Good shape although Fender logo plate is missing.
This bass has seen a lifetime of gigs, nicotine-filled bars, extreme temperatures, moisture, etc
..All of which can cause havoc to Vintage Fenders with nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, but the result is a beautifully unique look that can’t be replicated by any other means… Simply, stunning!
