A killer original 1971 Fender Mustang Bass in factory Competition Blue with matching racing stripe — one of Fender’s coolest early-’70s custom color finishes.
Features an April 1971 neck date, early 1971 pot dates, original pearloid pickguard, rosewood fingerboard, and split-coil pickup. Lightweight and resonant at approximately the 7.75 lbs. 
This bass has had a professional refret and plays great with that punchy, woody Mustang tone these are known for. The handrest and string ferrules are replacements.
Cosmetically, it’s in nice honest vintage condition for a 55-year-old instrument, showing plenty of small dings, paint chips, and finish checking throughout. There is also a roughly 1" abrasion on the back of the neck around the first fret area. It is not especially deep or distracting, but worth noting clearly (see photos).
